புனிதர் லயோலா இஞ்ஞாசியார், ஸ்பெயின் நாட்டின் “பாஸ்க்”
(Spanish Basque priest) குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்த கத்தோலிக்க குருவும், இறையியலாளரும்
(Theologian), இயேசு சபை (Society of Jesus) என்றழைக்கப்படும் ஆன்மீக துறவு சபையினை நிறுவியவருமாவார். அவரே அச்சபையின் முதல் பெரும்தலைவருமாவார். இவர் கத்தோலிக்க மறுமலர்ச்சியில் மிக முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தவர் ஆவார். கத்தோலிக்க திருச்சபையின் அதிகாரம் மற்றும் நிலைமுறைக்கு எதிர்ப்பின்றி கீழ்ப்படிதல் தமது தலையாய கடமை என்ற இவர், தமது சபையினரையும் அவ்வாறே செயல்பட ஊக்குவித்தார்.

இளைஞன் இனிகோவிற்கு இராணுவத்தின் மீதும், இராணுவ பயிற்சிகளின் மீதும் தீராத மோகம் இருந்தது. இராணுவத்தில் சேர்ந்து பெரும் புகழ் பெறவேண்டும் என்ற ஆசையும் இருந்தது. இனிகோ தமது பதினேழு வயதில் இராணுவத்தில் சேர்ந்தார். பதினெட்டு வயது முதல், தமது இராஜதந்திர மற்றும் தலைமைத்துவ குணங்களால் பல போர்களில் சிறு காயம்கூட இல்லாது வெற்றி பெற்று திரும்பினார். ஆனால்
